Fall 2026 Updates

It's been a hectic, challenging and fun year to-date. In January I told my family and very close friends that I was at capacity in every way, and in response to that fact my schedule was going to get streamlined, and it has. The Write Women Book Fest era has ended with the charming smaller Women In Fiction Book Fair in August as a final farewell to co-hosting book events.

My blogging hiatus will also continue with occasional updates. A prospective publisher's expectation for every one of their authors to have a social media presence led to my launch of the Blerdy Binge Reader many years ago as a way to share content that felt organic and authentic without causing my inner hermit to experience a psychotic break. Mission mostly accomplished.

Celebrating, promoting and supporting literacy, books, bookish people, events, places and spaces add joy to my life and I will continue doing so, most often with weekly casual read/reading/tbr Instagram posts and co-hosting more episodes of The Bitchy Quill podcast with Heather Brooks.

This year has been super productive for me writing-wise. One novel is complete. Another is about half-done, and a third is fully conceptualized (which is a miracle since pantsing it is my usual approach).

Thank you for reading BBR.

Always wishing you good health, peace of mind, safety, joy & some pleasure every single day!

New Arrivals Giving BRBF Vibes + BAC Issues

Even as my friends and I enjoyed a fantastic community event yesterday in and around the Bowie Branch of the Prince George's County Memorial Library System, there was envy in my heart for all of the attendees and participants at the Black Romance Book Festival in Atlanta, Georgia. Reports of issues of crowding just made me happy for the event organizers' success while they posted apologies and corrective strategies for crowd control during the last day.  In the meantime, the new arrivals shelves at the closest library in the neighboring county offered a variety of books by BRBF authors. "Where the Melanated Are Celebrated" indeed.   [9 books, from left to right: Positive Obsession, Communion, Big Girl Blitz (atop a bookstack), The Started Ex, Fire Sword & Sea, Leave Your Mess at Home, Archangel's Eternity, It Seemed Like a Good Idea at the Time, First Sign of Danger]  Currently reading Positive Obsession: The Life and Times of Octavia E.
