The Power of Love

Family, friendship, romance, couplehood, polyamory, community... Relationships form,  intersect and overlap, diverge, collide, merge and combust in infinite ways.

Winning the Earthquake: How Jeannette Rankin Defied All Odds...

Read
Son of the Morning by Akwaeke Emezi
contemporary supernatural fiction
Avon, 2025

Lush language combined with lyrical pacing and shady characters with questionable intentions that swirl around mysterious Galilee Kincaid, her origins and her purpose, transcend the limits of categories. It's gorgeous and captivating.

From the last chapter:
Turned out that being unknown was less terrifying than the truth of what she was, but these were the costs paid for power.

TBR
Definitely Maybe Not a Detective by Sarah Fox
The Wild Card by Stephanie Archer
Two Can Play by Ali Hazelwood

Rereads
Common Goal (Game Changers #4)
Role Model (Game Changers #5) by Rachel Reid

And to restate the obvious, my BACissues (Book Acquisition Compulsion) continue along with my all things Heated Rivalry fixation. Resistance to these sources of joy is futile.

Savoring simple joys is a form of rebellion against oppressive forces who intend to crush our ethical, generous, loving, creative spirits. The oppressors are bombarding us in desperation because they know their agenda of hate is not sustainable.

Always wishing you good health, peace of mind, safety, joy & some pleasure every day

Humanity in its vast melanin array.   [front cover of a paperback ARC for The Best Man: Unfinished Business; silhouette of three adults] The Best Man: Unfinished Business by Malcolm D. Lee with Jayne Allen  adult contemporary fiction with romantic elements  Storehouse Voices, July 2025   First, dedicated fans of The Best Man franchise and its beloved characters need not fear how they’re treated in this first of three novels. In fact. One thread of Harper’s storyline seems to reflect the real-life author/screenwriter/director’s battle to protect and maintain the integrity of The Best Man universe. Mission accomplished.  Second, once readers - fans or not - start this novel they won’t want to stop. The compulsion to re/watch The Best Man movies and limited series and maybe even to reread this book while anticipating the release of book two in 2026 will prove difficult to resist.  Who are you?  Who are your people?...
